Tips for choosing
Cases |
Cabinet Buying Tips
Computer Cabinets or as often referred the cases – though
does not have a major role to play in the performance of a computer system .
Cabinets are usually available in the form factors like ATX, Extended ATX,
Micro ATX etc., Number of USB Ports also vary in different cabinets . Checking
for the number of USB Ports that would you actually require for your computing
purpose is advisable. Colour of the case can be another feature that needs to
be checked before purchasing one.
The above features
are however limited to that of the basic cabinets. Gaming cabinets are slowly
gaining attention and a variety of things needs to be checked mostly the light
provisions and Cooling fan provisions
Intel and AMD are the only major brands as far as the processors
concerned. Though Intel dominates the processor market, AMD is slowly
accelerating its drive with the introduction of enormous products with varied
technology embedded in them. While Pentium, Celeron and Centrino are the
processor families from Internet, AMD has coined the names of its processors as
Athlon, Phenom etc.
The first thing to
look for when it comes to processor is the technology platform – whether it is
Centrino , Celeron or Pentium in case of Intel and Athlon, Phenom in case of
AMD. The next element which is as much important is the Core Structure or
Architecture. Find out what would meet your requirements – Say A Dual Core
Processor would do for the basic works and is efficient enough. However a Core
2 Duo delivers higher performance when
compared to that of a Dual core and is opted by a majority of people today. A
Quad Core processor is mainly for people involved in digital Content Creation
and high end industry applications which demands a higher processing
capacities.
Clock Speed of a processor as the term suggests is another
feature that influences the performance of a processor and that of the whole
computer system. Clock speed generally starts from 1.83 GHz, and moves up like
1.86GHz, 2.00 Ghz, 2.53 Ghz, 2.6 GHz, 2.8 GHz, 3.0 Ghz etc.
Socket of a CPU has to be carefully selected based on the
motherboard used in the desktop or laptop. The Socket of an Intel and AMD are
differently classified for eg. Intel Socket types are referred as the LGA 775,
LGA 725 etc where as that of AMD are referred as AM2, AM2+ and more.
Other things to look for when selecting a processor are the
Cache, bits – 32 or 64 , Memory Bus
Speed etc.,
